Midtown recently added three new elders to our elder board: Clair White, Alex Okland and Josh Davis. Please join us in welcoming them aboard and learn a little more about each of them from their bios below.
Clair White
Clair and her husband, Eric, have been at Common Ground since 2005. Former West attenders, the Whites, including children Jordan, Keira and Theo, have worshipped at Midtown since 2014. After formerly leading a house church and serving as Shepherd Leaders, the Whites now enjoy simply participating in their close-knit house church.
Clair strives to balance home life with work and volunteer commitments. She applies her clinical child psychology know-how by helping friends and family with child, family, and parenting struggles. She also has been active in Common Ground’s children’s ministry for many years, serving as a teacher and classroom coordinator, and coordinates CG’s volunteer efforts at IPS #43. She hopes to apply her passions for children, local missions, community, and fostering healthy relationships in her role as an Elder. When not working or volunteering, you can find Clair enjoying the outdoors with family, spending time with friends, or eking out time for exercise.
Alex Okland
Alex and his wife, Stacy, move to Indianapolis from Atlanta in 2004. They have been married 13 years and met when they were both working with high school ministries in north Atlanta - Alex at a church and Stacy with Cru. Currently, Alex is a pilot for Delta Airlines and Stacy enjoys the hard, and rewarding work of staying home with their children Luke(11), Baylie(9) and Emerson(6).
The Oklands felt an immediate connection with Common Ground – they had found their people. One of the ways they recently served CG was through the renovation and remodeling of the Welcome Center. They have literally put their sweat equity into our congregation. Alex moves into the invitation to Elder with a humble gratitude in the hope to provide any needed leadership from his knees in prayer and submission to the Shepherd whose name we desire to glorify.
Josh Davis
Josh Davis grew up as the only son of a preacher man, an Air Force brat, and a Third Culture Kid exposed to a wide variety of church traditions. As a young person he excelled in school and went on to study Computer Engineering and English Literature in college before serving 6 years in the Armed Forces.
Josh enjoys both the technical and the introspective areas of his life especially while he is drinking a well-crafted latte. He manages Cloud Infrastructure for global company by day and leads house church, Vision Trips, and excursions to the Smokies in his time off. He is happily married to Kelley Davis. They have one son, Ethan.
