Teach Us to Pray
Lent 2025 Sermon Series
Prayer is the most accessible yet mysterious invitation God extends to us. It’s not just a habit or a duty—it’s an invitation into the very heart of God. Yet, if we’re honest, many of us struggle with it. We get distracted, discouraged, or doubtful that our prayers even matter. Like the disciples, we find ourselves asking, “Lord, teach us to pray” (Luke 11:1).
In this series, inspired by Tyler Staton's book, Praying Like Monks, Living Like Fools, we’ll rediscover the beauty, power, and mystery of prayer. We’ll learn to pray with the boldness of a child, the devotion of a monk, and the trust of a fool—believing that God not only hears us, but delights in drawing near. We will explore prayers of adoration, confession, intercession, and more. Prayer is not about getting the right words, but about giving God our whole hearts. As we step into a deeper, more honest conversation with God, we just might find that prayer doesn’t change God—it changes us.
