The Good News of Jesus & the Justice of God

fall 2022

Starting on Sunday, September 11, we will take ten weeks to explore how the biblical narrative is a story of God’s reconciling justice in the world. From beginning to end, the scriptures tell one unified story of God’s good intentions in creation, the devastation brought on by human sin and rebellion, God's plan for reconciling this relationship, and the ultimate redemption made possible through Jesus Christ. Through this series, we will see that justice is a characteristic of God’s personality and that Jesus transforms us as people who live justly in His way of sacrificial love. Relationships are restored and systems of injustice can be redeemed when God’s people follow the way of Jesus.

House Church and Small Groups

During the fall sermon series, house churches and small groups will be using a curriculum from SeminaryNow entitled, Rediscipling the White Church. In this course, Pastor David Swanson, "contends that discipleship, not diversity, lies at the heart of our white churches' racial brokenness. Before white churches can pursue diversity, he argues, we must first take steps to address the faulty discipleship that has led to our segregation in the first place." Each house church and small group gathering will include a time of centering, video curriculum, reflection on the content, and prayer.

If you did not register for a new small group, consider doing one of the following things:

• Contact Jim Matthies and he will try to place you in an existing group.

• Purchase a copy of Rediscipling the White Church by David Swanson and read independently. Plan on registering for the next small group session beginning in January 2023. More details to come in November.
